Sheriff’s Mobile Command Vehicle 2
On February 4, 2026, the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office took delivery of its new Mobile Command Vehicle, made possible through grant funding from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Operated and maintained by the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office and the Sheriff's Communications Unit, the vehicle serves as a mobile field command post and communications hub for emergency incidents. It provides reliable, self-contained communications and operational support in locations where traditional infrastructure may be limited or unavailable.
The Mobile Command Vehicle is equipped with both cellular and satellite-based internet connectivity, a wireless hotspot, a portable satellite phone, dedicated office workspace, and a comprehensive suite of two-way radio systems, including Public Safety, Amateur Radio, Aviation, and Marine radio bands. These capabilities enable responders to establish and maintain critical communications and coordinate operations from virtually any location.
